What Type Of Kickboxing is Muay Thai?
Originated in Thailand, Muay Thai uses a discipline known as the “art of eight limbs.” The reason for this name is because of the use of your fists, elbows, knees, and shins.
Interesting Muay Thai Fact:
During the battles between the Burmese and Konbaung Dynasty and Siam, a fighter named Nai Khanomtom was captured. The Burmese allowed him to fight for his freedom after hearing about his skill at hand-to-hand combat. He was able to win against ten Burmese contenders and was released and able to return home to Siam. His fighting style was an early version of what is now known as Muay Thai.
What Types Of Training and Exercise Are Used?
We utilize a variety of cardio, conditioning, and strength training exercises, including:
- Body weight exercises (No actual weights are used, just the resistance of your body weight.)
- Technique training
- Jump rope
- Punching bag for hits and kicks
- Partners holding pads for each other

Is There Any Physical Contact?
Don’t worry, no one gets hit! It is absolutely not necessary, required, or encouraged to hit or be hit while training. Our classes are very safe for everyone with a focus on fitness.
There are occasional sparring opportunities but only in very controlled circumstances and with advanced students only.
